	DIM SUN
Affectionate keenly observed portrait of a Chinese family in San Francisco. A slight story of the clash of two cultures. Gentle humour.

	DISTANT VOICES,STILL LIVES
Set in Liverpool during the 40's & 50's. based on director Terrance Davies' biography. A working class family ruled by a vicious father. Through weddings, funerals etc, life is seen as hard.

	DIVA
French film about a naive postal messenger is hounded by Mafia for a tape he has of a opera diva and one about who controls vice in Paris. EST.

	ANDREI RUBLEV
In a Victorian English village a vet talks to his animals. Escaping from a lunatic asylum he travels to the South Seas. Musical.

	PRISONER OF THE MOUNTAINS
(H)Kazakhstan/Russia 1996 95 Mins. Oscar nomination for best foreign film. This potent anti-war drama is the first major film to come out of the Chechen conflict. Enormous visual power using the breathtaking mountaintop setting in a story of two wounded Russian soldiers held captive by a rebel chieftain to exchange them for his son who is held by the Russian Army

	DOCTOR DOLITTLE
Made by Neil Jordan in Eire. A showband's manager is assassinated. The saxophonist sets out to revenge the killing.

Dir Stanley Kubrick. Important historical film from the height of the cold war era. Mad American general launches nuclear attack on Russia.

	Dr ZHIVAGO
David Lean's moving production of Boris Pasternak's epic novel of life in Russia at the time of the revolution and the civil war. With Julie Christie, Alec Guinness, Omar Sharif, Tom Courtenay, Rod Steiger.

	THE DRAFTSMAN'S CONTRACT
In the late 17th Century a young man does some work for a country gentlewoman. His pay includes bed and sex.
